American chickens are healthier and better cared for than ever before.
Chicken farmers trained in animal welfare do everything they can to make sure their birds are healthy and comfortable, as highlighted in this series of videos by Chicken Check In, from the National Chicken Council.
Tune in to see the various practices farmers are using in the knowledge that happier chickens make for a better end product, which include:
- Pre-warming the chicken house for the arrival of new chicks
- Working with expert poultry nutritionists to specially blend feed that changes with the chickens as they grow, ensuring that they get the proper nutrients for each stage of their life
- Checking on the birds’ comfort and health up to three times a day, to make sure the barn is at the right temperature and the chickens are able to access food and water independently
